Teens

“Overwhelm them with appreciation and love! Get along among yourselves, each of you doing your part. Gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhausted, pulling them to their feet. Be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. And be careful that when you get on each other’s nerves you don’t snap at each other. Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out.” ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:13, 15 & 16

SURGE: A sudden overwhelming rush or burst

If you were to describe Christ’s personality or demeanor, overwhelming may not be the adjective that entered your mind. His impact on so many people’s lives and the example that he left for us to follow, however, is most definitely overwhelming.

Jesus’ life was a surge of Love, Hope and Faith. He burst into many cultures which were previously void of the understanding of those seemingly simple concepts.

Jesus showed us all that God’s love is unconditional. He showed us that God lives in us all, and he repeatedly used the “unimportant” and “broken” to do so. Jesus showed us that there is no such things as an unimportant life in God’s eyes.

Here at the RiverWalk Church of Christ, in our Surge Teen Ministry we believe that even though the world may view teenagers as unimportant, misunderstood and lazy, in God’s eyes we are beautiful and important. The teens here are passionate about sharing this important message with those who have never been told how significant they are. We feel called to surge into today’s culture. We have an opportunity overwhelm the feelings many teens experience of being unloved or unimportant and replace them with the identity God gave us through Christ’s life.

If you are in 7th – 12th grade, we invite you to be part of the Teen Group of RiverWalk Church of Christ.
